got back last night since i didn't feel like camping in the rain...friday, jr. x and pro dh was pretty nuts, i walked the whole course and shot 1 1/2 rolls of film.. the highlight was cedric flying through yardsale making dritbike noises the whole time... saw some really nasty crashes in the fast open part of the course.. mtn X the course was really fast. shot 1 roll of film, talked briefly to one of the "pro" photographers about the abundance of 12 yrs old kids with $100 camcorders that had press passes (do they give them out to just anyone?) went back to haystack for some camping.. threw back a few beers and did some jumping.... met the infamous Connor, and drank some more beer...
saturday:
watched pro dh practice and then expert finals...i think only 1 woman actually rode all of yeardsale (cheater line) all the others seemed to take the cheater line and then walk the bottom... some of the junior x guys were really fast. got some good pics (i hope) shot anohtehr 1 roll+ of film.. watchecd a little XC, man xc is gay... xc bikes today are pretty much road bikes.. all the xc course i saw looked really really tame... saw tinker, man that guy looked old...
i hiked the sport dh course, looked really fun, i was alomost wishing i entered on my hardtail (wouldn't have been fast, but i'm sure i could have ridden it) then it started to rain.. watched some beg. dh, I saw 2 guys in a row with NU jerseys RIP the upper tech section, with the drop between the tight trees, the guy next to me thought they were sandbagging...once the rain was pouring down i was glad i didn't race, the course wet looked way nastier then dry...
then mtn x practice...
mtn x finals were ok, nice fast racing, but it was raining pretty good..got a bunch of pics...I'll post more after i get them back from the lab...
here's one i took witht eh digital cam:
aha conner has a whole gang of friendsnow, good god
i was in the evil tent talkin to seth and john p and like 'damn wheres conner i havnt seen him yet?!' and RIGHT then we here "HEY GUYS!"
ahaha that kid is great
some more pics... i only took a few digital ones.. i need a digital slr, after shooting my film slr, going back to this digital cam sucks..(canon a2e to a pro90is)

Mt Snow was cool and the pro/expert dh course was very demanding from the get go-
I was extremely pissed at norba for changing the straight line entrance to the yardsale after thursdays practice. i had it Pinned up and down.
Aparently to many people were getting hurt by straightlining into the yardsale with to much speed. D'uh its DH people are gonna get hurt, just because a few racers lack the common sense not to hit the rocks at mach 5 does not mean norba has to ruin it for the rest of us.
We were camped out on the deck of the lodge. and could not help to be haggled by Connor about leaving rancid meat on the ground.
Connor is an annoying little kid despite some skills for a 12 year old. I cannot stand the amount of 12 year old kids with pimped out bikes that mommy and daddy bought them very frustrating for a person that works hard to be competative in an expensive sport.
The pros are insane cruising on the upper section of the course gapping this and that. I got a mid pack finish in expert 19 24. Could have done alot better on the upper section before the ledges but never really had it dialed in.

I was one of the sport 19-24 sandbaggers. 1/2 of the class should have been expert, totally mint!.
After getting second in the sport dh i got back on the lift and took a nice run on the expert dh course. SOO much more fun, and totally within my limits, I felt like a major assclown.
For my first ds or mtx course since '95 I got sixth in mtx. I would have taken out my friend who took second to make the main, so i was sastisfied. The MTX course sucked IMO.
I am super psycehd on racing dh now though, in the 2 months i've had a dh bike i feel like i've really learned how to use it to it's full pontential. yippe
mt snow was great! I had a blast. Im sure there will be at least 10 more threads about snow in the next couple of days, all raving about the week.

Even worse that we had to ride yardsale in our race runs (expert classes) and then they took it completely out of the course for the pros on Sunday morning. Total BS. This will be a whole nother thread.
