Henry O'Donnell won with a 5:07, with Kyle Strait in second with a 5:43. Henry was absolutely flying. The course was super slick because of the downpour of rain, and then the sun came out about an hour before the race, so everything was a peanut butter mud that made it near impossible to ride (at least for me) some of the sections of the course, especially the new off-camber section. Unfortunately my race run didn't go so well as my chain jambed up before the first woods section. Kinda depressing as although I hate riding in mud, I'm pretty good at it and had a chance to finish well, but that's racing... I feel as though I had an advantage on the course having ridden it the two previous years. So although the course was physically demanding, I didn't feel as mentally fatigued since most of the course had been memorized. The course was brutal. The new sections would have been fun without the mud, though.. granted, Snowshoe gets damn near rainforest quantities of rain in June, so the mud was not surprising. It was fun hanging with Hcor for a few days. Hcor didn't spend too much time in the condo as he was out and about getting his bike fixed a couple of times. Unfortunately, an inordinate amount of time was spent washing our bikes and gear... We ate out all the time. Ran into dw and Fraser in the bar Sat night.
