actually i do have a question....
so im riding a VT1/minute 2 setup with 5/5. i sold the brooklyn (sigh).
ive been doing all XC but plan on doing some DH later on in the season.
what would be a good bike that i can kill xc trails on and take the bitch up to platty and not feel like im being held back by my bike?
i think my days of hucking gnar are over...ill hit a few drops here and there...so i do need a little cush.

are you looking for a new bike? if you are, look at the Foes FXR 2:1 or the Intense 6.6.
both bikes offer 6"+ and can still pedal xc with no problem and can rip on the dh too. I think since Intense raised their prices, the Foes will come in cheaper as of right now.

Good choices. Scotty has a nomad and likes it alot. I don't know how big you could go on it, it is pretty light. He didn't like how the geometry was on the 6.6, said it was a little too xc.

I got a schwinn with a banana seat. I like to go down hills fast. The brakes are almost non existant. It has a suicide shifter. Does this count?

the nomad is pretty durable really. bot the Intense 5.5 and the 6.6 have a steeper head angle than the comparable Foes bikes, plus Foes has a adjustable head angle.
its one of the next bikes im getting

I have a giant reign0 that does XC and DH really well. When I took it out for some DH runs the only thing holding the bike back was the fork, I could feel the twisting from not having a 20mm thru axle.
I rode Scotty's 5.5 and felt like I was going to flip over from the steep head angle, I would go with a Intense 6.6 with a CCDB, DHX air or even a RP23 witht he large volume air canister.

If you want to go low brow and cheap. The Mongoose BD3 http://www.derailedonline.com/archives/000280.html
I raced DH on it, rode many DH trails, and also pedal the thing around all my local XC trails. For the money, hard to beat this bike with all the nice parts they spec on it.
Another readily available bike that would fit your bill and could be had easily and cheap used is the Specialized Trail SX. The newer ones can be adjusted to a slack 65 HA for DH and changed back to 67 for more trail riding applications. Really nice bike as well.
