i just got my triple 8 oil changed.
Anyone know why this thing tops out like crazy now!
even worse when i removed the crowns the right fork leg (rebound)
it appears that it isnt even connected to the lowers. I can literally pull the entire leg out of the fork...!

anyone ever seen this before? thanks..

Sounds like the rebound nob isn't attached to the dampening rod (somehow???) or the bolt on the bottom of the fork isn't there. Either way, have whoever serviced it fix it. I would not even think of riding it.

Second that. Don't ride that fork. The cartridge inside the fork was not reassembled correctly.

Yeah this shi7 is highly unusual...
with the crowns off I can literally pull the stanchion right out of the fork!
I brought it back to the shop that changed the oil and they decided to ship it back to Marzocchi. A wise move. We'll see what the big M has to say...
I think you are both totally right though...
somehow the cartridge detached during the oilchange.
granted it is a 2004 888 so its seen 3 seasons of platty and creek.
fortunately my friend is selling me his 06' 888 and I wont have to deal with fork problems for another 3 years.
