First off what is a knockoff? The mini craze came about from people souping up their stock Honda Crf/XR 50's. This has grown to such a level that some people are putting together $10,000 pit bikes. basicly, take a stock Honda 50, replace just about everything on it with trick aftermarket parts, and you have a bad ass mini.

Then SDG came out with a bike (speed mini) that came pretty souped up stock for 1/3rd of the price it would cost you to get your stocker built to that point. It came adult ready, fast, and ready to ride. It wasnt as high quality as a fully built Honda mod, and they had alot of issues, but it was a start to the knockoffs invading the market. This is basicly a chinese made copy of a souped up modded crf/50. More companies jumped on this and now we have multiple knockoff brands. Some total junk, some decent quality. Some are fully compatible with all the Honda stuff, some are not. A little research goes a long way here. Its not too hard now to find out what stuff is good and what isnt. I am personally stoked that there is a less costly option to get into the mini scene. Without knockoff's....alot of people just would not be able to afford or justify the cost of entry. Just know when you buy a knockoff, you will need to replace/upgrade some parts. For many of us, thats a tradeoff were willing to take.,

There are a ton of aftermarket parts for mini's these days. Its amazing how much stuff is out there for this market. There are some things which have not come circle as of yet and a few issues to be aware of. There are some really good knockoffs brands out there, and there is alot of garbage as well. Some companies make junky one off incompatible stuff, while others make decent stuff that bolts right up on any honda style bike. Just do your research and find the companies making decent compatible products.

I want to extend my swingarm. There is a million options out there for extended swingarms, bike bike suspension etc. However...most of the knockoff brands such as Pitster Pro, SDG, Thumpstar, etc have a rear disc brake setup that differs from a standard Honda drum brake or BBR style disc setup. So I cant just throw and swinger on there and be done with it. There are a couple companies out there that are working on addressing this issue, until then I need to wait. More info as i get it....If you want to weld some brake tabs for me...let me know!!!

Final words....It is better in the long run "quality wise" to build up a bike from scratch with high quality parts. Buy a BBR frame/swingarm combo, throw a Honda motor on it, then 88 kit etc. However to build up a complete mini this way, your looking at quite a bit of coin. $4-6 grand is in the ball park. The other option is a knockoff....you can buy a ready to ride 125cc mini for between $1500-2200k. You will not have the pimpest bike and your gonna break/replace some stuff, but you will be riding. Either route you take puts you in one of the most fun activities you can be a part of.....jump on a mini!!!!

I was looking in to getting one of the cheap minis, after some research i found the most common engines found are the Lifan which is said to me manucaturer of the honda stock motors, or the ZongChien (sp?) motors. I was told that the lifans are junk and only have the all down shift patter, and the way to go is the zong chien which is 1 down 3 up. It has more options performance wise with big bore kits are said to be more durable all together. The bike i was looking at was from ogmotorsports.com. A buddy of mine picked up one of the 125 4 spd models that comes with the zong chien motor off of ebay for about 900 bucks. Its a sick bike a few things like foot pegs and handle bars need to be changed but with the steel frame and exteded aluminum swingarm makes it a nice bike for the money. But anyway what i needed to know was if any one had any experience or heard anything about the 2 motors.
