my thoughts:
1)not sure how they are squeezing acceptable image quality out of a 12MP APS sized sensor
2)flash sync of 1/250? baaah!
3)when is it on shelves? no dates given in the release
4)price? rumors, which pegged all the specs, put it at $4,100 street.
so the question is do I call a couple places right now and put my name on the list, or actually wait and see what this thing does; which means waiting till release+6mos to actually get one.....or just keep shooting the D1x till it falls apart?
hmmm...

the "high speed crop" feature sounds interesting, and maybe its 5 fps and proper autofocus will force canon to update and reduce the price on the upcoming 1Ds (MkII? ). overall tho i can't see it making a big difference for either camp in the canon/nikon product release war

I really think that 5fps is the perfect speed. I had 4.5 on both my N90s and D1 and it was great. 8 seems like overkill for all but a few situations and 3 is definately too slow.
the real question is image quality....I like this quote from Rob Galbraith's release:
"Nikon is currently dealing with a perception in the marketplace that the D1X is long overdue for replacement. And that D2H image quality, while by no means horrible, is not up to the level of the competition. Oh, and that the decision to stick with DX-size sensors for its higher-resolution digital SLR models is just plain crazy."
says a lot

Agreed.
And after laying my hands on the Canon20D last night, I have to say that Nikon is going to have to make some pretty big technological advancements to get back into the game. I was really hoping that Fuji would make things right with the S3Pro, but it seems that 1.5 fps at 12 MP, and 1.2 fps at 6MP just isn't going to make anyone happy....
Too bad...I really liked the look and feel of the Fuji S2Pro.....
