the municipality was holding out on closing trails, but seems it's gotten to severe for that......

http://www.whistler.ca/updates/

Majority of Whistler hiking trails closed

Monday, September 2: trail update for the Resort Municipality of Whistler:

All trails on municipal property are closed, with the following exceptions:
Lost Lake trails
Emerald Forest trails
Valley Trail
River Runs Through It
Cut Yer Bars

The Whistler bike park is open.

The Ministry of Forests has restricted access to the backcountry and closed all hiking trails on Crown land and MOF land. Effective immediately, Whistler trails that enter Crown land, MOF land or Garibaldi Provincial Park are closed. These include:

Secret Trail
Foreplay
Flank Trail
Rainbow-Madely Lake
Wedge Lake
Garibaldi Lake
Cheakamus Lake
Helm Creek Trail
Singing Pass
Whistler Interpretive Forest trails past House Rock
One Duck Lake (Emerald)
Brandywine Meadows
Cougar Mountain/Ancient Cedars
Cougar Mountain - Soo Valley
Shadow Lake Interpretive Forest

Trails leading into Garibaldi Provincial Park from Whistler Mountain alpine are closed, though trails within the ski area boundaries are currently open.

Bikers and walkers are asked to use extreme caution when on the trails.

Not surprising.
I wonder how much pressure Whistler council is under to close the bike park and ALL the trails down?

probably as much as they're getting from Whist/Black to let them stay open......at least with the bikepark they have staff on hand to get to any fire that would possibly start, unlike the other trails in the valley...

Ya its bone dry out there.....and it hurt our trip big time. We had a blast riding Whistler for over a week, but we had plans to hit so many other spots. The only other spots we rode in BC were Gravitron and Cop Killa in Pemberton. We made it to the top of the mtn at Squamish and they had just closed down...we had to leave Sad

Oh well....next year.

Ya we rode some fun trail on Chuckanutt outside of B'ham and we hit up the Glacier jumps near Mt.Baker. I took a nice digger for film on the last hit on the WidowMaker line as well....ouch.

haha...chuckanut... Embarassed , that and humptuplips will never get old

if you come back next year, save a day to come down near seattle. There are a few trails a bit east of there that are pretty gnarl and fun. Of course there probably won't be a backcountry ban in BC so all their trails would be open...
