Ok here we go.
The 6way and the 5th are some of the shock I know how to tune well.
So here it goes.
The SPV (Stable Platform Valveing) should work while sitting or standing it shouldn’t matter. It works by limiting travel from low frequency input. (Pedaling, G-outs, berms,) Anything with slow,long compression. For DH racing most people keep the SPV in a lower setting (75-100PSI) this will still have some pedal feedback but it won’t compress so much on turns. The volume adjustment I wouldn’t do anything with.
The black knob is your highspeed response. That adjusts how much of the shocks travel is used on small bumps. Smooth fast courses you would want to run it tight. (1/2 a turn out) Ruff courses at loose (about 1 full turn) The red knob is the low speed compression. This adjusts the end travel this is what you would adjust for bottom out resistance. Most people fun that 1/2 turn out. You would want to adjust it depending on how easy you bottom out your shock. The rebound depends on what you like to ride. The slower the rebound the less pedal feedback you'll feel but you will get less traction and the rear wheel would tend to stutter across the ruff. I find it best to be set in the middle.
And last but not least spring weight. if you weigh about 150 or so a 300LB spring should be just about right.

Hey Format, Ska, or DW,
First day of riding my SGS and this thig kicks so much ass. I'm in the process of tuning the shocks, and making sure everything is working smoothly. One question about the rear shock bolt: When I pick up the rear of the bike, I feel a slight "klunk" I traced the problem to the bottom shock eyelet. There is a small space between the inner eyelet diameter and the shock bolt sleeve, and when the bike is elevated, the eyelet can move a very, very small amount. The shock is centered and everything looks fine, but I wasn't sure if it should be moving.
just got a quick q for you iron horse guys. i have the sgs pro dh 04 and my nut for the bolt on rear thru axle fell off and i lost it. i couldnt find one, then finally a guy helped me get the same size bolt just different corse on one side. just now i have to tighten the bolt every run i do. any thing a can do? also where can i get the screws for the derailuer hanger cuz one of then fell out? if i can get them at a hardwear store, what are the dimensions? thanks

The large acorn nut is a 19mm hex for a 12mm bolt.
The screws on the derailleur are 4mm flat heads. These I know can be had at your local hardware store (especially an Ace hardware store). The locknut is a little harder to find. I did find a place on the web that sold the acorn nuts in aluminum!! I was going to get me one of those cause that nut is quite heavy. Yes I'm a gram pincher..

--------naw man, u got me wrong. kurt is my boy. im just busting on him. we tried to get him a ride but IH didnt have anymore. well they had world cups but it was out of his price range. shit he was cool enough to ask me if he would b stepping on any toes b4 he bought it too. of course we encouraged it cause we couldnt get him the product.

-------and i believe in what my sig says. it easier for me to say that cause my shop is well rounded unlike some shops people deal with and push them twords mail order cause they are a roadie based shop or something. we have a shop directly across the street form our, it sucks, but if i had to go to dh stuff for them......iduno what id do. they r a roadie based shop.

Ahh. Sorry I couldent keep up with this on friday. Heres the skinny.
You can order a 8X60mm through pin from manitou for your rear shock. I would send one but im out right now. this will fix the shock slop problem. The rear axle nut is some dam strange size. I would call up sun ringle and see if they can tell you what size nut it is. and the hanger screws are no problem. Ill give D a call and help him out.

for me it wasnt the bolt, but the little sleeves that went over it. for some reason there is a 2 piece sleeve, which they shoulda just made one solid sleeve. anyway, that shouldered sleeve is ridiculous because it allows play right near the shock bushing. both iron horse and manitou sent me a bunch of new parts, but the solution was cuting one of the sleeves they sent me to eliminate the shouldered piece. that pretty much solved the problem. i hope everyone else didnt have to go through this
