my guess would be a 17 inch bike. or maybe the smaller one. I am 5'11 and I ride the 19 inch. as for test riding one, i would wait for the soon-to-be-released 2003.5 with the updated linkage, THEN ride one. check bicyclebuys.com (they have a store in LI). That's where I bought mine - but I bought mine online to save the $$.

First off hello~
I'm looking to get a better rear shock for my 2003 Hollowpoint Team. It has the build kit from a 2002 or the wonderful (sarcasm) rock shock sid (leaking). I'm thinking of getting a cane creek cloud nine. What size would I need? I'm a Noob to FS mountain bikes so don't hammer my knowledge too bad =)
Anything else productwise to consider? I know many have loyalties but try to set them aside and suggest what to get based on what you think is good price/performance. Durable and consistent in performance. 5th element?
Thanks for the help. Been browsing the site since I started my research on IH bikes. As a west coaster it's pretty cool to be tearing up the trails on something not everyone has.

Hola and welcome to hcor!
For the 03 Hollowpoint you will need a 6.5x1.5" shock w/ 41.5mm hdwr on on can side and 24x8mm on the shaft side.
I personally would recommend the 5th Air. It's stinkin light and hella adjustable. They admittedly have had a couple of bugs along the way but they seem to be ironed out now. The shock is what we all have been running around the office now.

Opps, so after looking at the 5th site I see many parts "kits" to fit different bikes. Can I get any ol' 6.5 inch 5th Air and just buy a parts kit to have it fit my 03' Team? That seems like common sense to me but I figured I'd ask before shopping for something I can't use.

Just give them a call. An 02/03 HP uses 24x8 & 41.5x8 hardware.

Hey Todd, any reason why in the pictures at interbike, the 04 swingarms of the HP's did not have the Y section, but 2 tubes and the actual bikes that IH is selling as 04's still have the Y section? Nobody on Earth would notice that but me.

Nope, all 04 production models have the new rear triangles. The frames in the catalog and on the web were shot before the 04 frames were finished to meet print deadlines. They were just 03 frames painted like the 04's.

Firstly, hello - I'm new here and just got an 04 Hollowpoint Expert - a work of art that makes you grin! Any tips on setting up the SPV front and rear and / or reference guides from IH? Oh and Manitou suggest a separate SPV pump - is that really needed or will a stock fork air pump do?

I use a standard shock pump on my SPV.
Do you have a 5th on the rear of your HP?

Nope - it's a Manitou Swinger. Seems to have exactly the same schrader valve so I imagine a standard pump will work fine, but the Manitou instruction bible would suggest otherwise...

A standard shock pump yes. But not a "standard" floor pump.

Does anyone know the max manufacturer "acceptable" fork length for the '03 HP? The bike is a light freerider for my girlfriend (she's light) but the stock 4" makes the head angle too steep.
I was thinking maybe a 6" single crown, or maybe even an 03 Slider (6").
I think the hollowpoint is a great trail bike for someone not so crazy and/or small... am I crazy?

I ran a 5" fox fork on my '03 and running one on my '04
They are not approved for DC forks. I have no idea about the long travel single crowns though. But I do know 5" forks are acceptable and used.
