So, it's been a while since school permitted enough time to get anything of significance done, but it finally happened.

Mounted and wired my GPS and intercom tonight. Have to make a bracket and mount the pumper tomorrow. Oh...and a little update for the future Very Happy

I know the wiring on the A pillar is ugly, but there's more work to do and loom to be run.

302 bored to 347. .10/.10 grind on the cam. I'm switching over to fuel injection, but it was a bargain.

Alrighty. I'll answer some questions:

I'm planning on switching to a 218 degree cam, as well as having the heads ported/polished.

I'm currently waiting on pieces to come back from the laser cutter. It was on 4.5" extended beams with 2.5x 14 coil overs and extended radius arms. The core support has been removed and replaced with only the necessary tubes to mount radiator/fluid resivoirs. The rear has an F-150 8.8, long travel Deaver springs with shackles I made and hangers that are moved back around 4" from the stock location to let the springs droop out easier. They have 3.0x16" 4 tube bypass shocks.

The new front end will be equal length beams with somewhat center mounted radius arms (off the tranny x-member) so they'll have minimal caster change. It cycles 22" of travel in SolidWorks, but I'll probably strap it to a clean 16-17" to keep it kind of balanced. Once the motor is done, it will be swapped in with a new tranny (T400) and motor plate. The new front end will be welded up and installed so I only have to make one crossmember. a 3" bypass will also be added up front in addition to the 2.5" coil over. I'll be running Desert Specialties hubs up front on some spindles I have designed because no one offers a bolt on snout for Rangers.

I have a full floater housing, axles, and Desert Specialties rear hubs. I'm waiting on the motor to get my 3rd member and decide on the gearing. I'll probably keep the 8.8 until I'm ready to link it.

As for caging a DD, don't. This truck was my DD, but I finally cracked 6mo. after I caged it. It was loud, stripped down, and lacked a lot of luxuries because when I caged it, I wanted it to be as strong as possible, regardless of what would have to be sacrificed. You can cage a DD, but you'll get annoyed with it. There is no way to silence a caged truck. Sheet metal squeeks against the tubes, tubes echo, it's generally a giant echo chamber.

I'm not a bitch about my cars, but after you cage it, it will get to you. Hell, my Ranger had a metal headliner and vinyl floors/seats. I drove for a long time with just a bare sheet metal floor, no dash, and a single ply headliner. It's just that much easier to have a DD that is in one piece, won't break because it was in the desert, and gets better mileage.
