Was just thinkin about how i am going to set up my IH porter when i get it and one of the first things i wanna do is swap out the brake... i would be getting the cheaper of the 2 porters so it comes with a vbrake, i want to throw a hydro disc on there, i know the frame has disc mounts but is the "14mm rear hub" disc compatible? Does anybodyyyy knowwww?

THanks
Dan

14mm is the size of the axle. BMX sized axle.

I have never heard of a disc compatible 14mm hub except the ones on Lopes' custom built BMX bike

http://www.funnmtb.co.uk/main.html < I know funn has a 14mm bolt on that is also disc compatible cause it comes on the banshee scratch.... but yeah i think its pretty safe to assume that the porter will not come with one cause they are more expensiveness and rare... I'll just keep that vbraker on there and rock that...

Thanks for the input/help stuff

i dunno whether the porter hub is disc compatible, but if it's not, dmr have recently released a 135mm spacing hub w/ 14mm axle -- disc mounts on one side, thread for freewheel on the other. RHD only, i believe. google "dmr 14mm hub".

i'm pretty sure the Porter does not have a 14mm rear axle, at least the frames i've seen it's been a 10mm bolt on axle.

According to the ironhorsebikes.com website the "Porter Pro" the blueish one prolly the one youve seen has a "R. HUB ALLOY, 36H, W/10MM BOLT ON AXLE" and it also says the the "Porter 26"/24"" has a "R. HUB ALLOY, 36H, 14MM" .... THats where i got the 14mm business from... and if it is not disc compatible i will just run a vbrake... no biggy, was just hopin someone already had this ride and could walk in their basement and be like "Yes" or "No"

thanks again

Both the Pro and 26/24 use the same frame, so I'm almost positive that both bikes come with the 10mm bolt on axle.

Yeah yer right my buddy got his today (its in the urban/dj/park forum) .... all i was going by was the website which said it had the 14mm... and the hub is not disc but appears to have a nifty drive side flop option which is cool...

Also after seein how small the 12" frame with 24" wheels was i am leaning towards a 14" with 26s.... just curious what size frame you are riding george....

i'm about 6'0" and I ride the 12" frame with 26 wheels. I would actually prefer a size right between the 12 and 14, but I went with the 12 cuz I like my bikes on the small side.
