I really don't like that band. When I think of stereotypical jamband, it's either the Moe or Umph's sound...which is pretty much the same.

I will, however, be going to see Brother's Past open up for them at 9:30 Club and will be sticking around to watch the UM show.

Ah my young jedi...you have much to learn. First, UM, while people like to label them as a "jamband" (including Relix), they are not. They are a progressive rock band. Second, many compare moe. and UM, and in fact UM does a darn fine cover of Rebubula, but McGee is musically head and shoulders above moe.. UM is not a "noodling" band. If a comparison could be made, they are closer to an early Phish in that their songs are very tightly composed. Not much actual "jamming" really. Not yet anyway. I respect your opinion, as I know you and I are on the same wavelength musically to soem extent. I emplore you to give them further listening and would be happy so suggest (or B&P) you some stellar shows. Actually, they are in the N.E. in early Dec.. Philly, D.C., Albany, Boston, NYC.... Go see them and have your mind blown. Peace....

Denial! C'mon now....they're a jamband. I've seen them a few times, including a few times at festivals, and they are a jamband.

They are way tighter than Moe, but they still have that weak, lightweight, unoriginal jamband sound, in my opinion.

Like I said, I'll be seeing them again in December.
Thanks for the offer, btw. I do have some of their shows and that VCD that those guys from Santa Cruz put out....I just don't really care for jambands, I guess (except, of course, for Phish, the Grateful Dead and The Disco Biscuits )

Cool, let me know what you think after the 9:30 club show. I don;t know the last time you saw UM, but sicne Bonaroo of this year, they are just on fire!! And getting better and better with each show!! I like BP, but find them (and tDB) on the edge of being to "techno/elctronica" sounding for me. I'm seeing UM in Troy, NY., Boston and NYC in about a week and a half...can't wait!! Take care!
I will post back here with my report. Last time I saw them was All Good in West Virginia this summer. It was fine, but not my cup of tea. It was cool to see them cover Fugazi (even if it was Waiting Room )
Yep. Different strokes. I wish tDB and BP would shed their jamband songs and play what they are good at...the nasty electronica. The Biscuits are a lost cause, but BP are writing great indie-ish songs with lots of breakbeats.
Have a good night I'm seeing MMW at 930 Club in a few.

Oh man...it was the best show I've ever seen them play. Very tight, plus the perfect balance of ambience and groove. The best show I've seen in some time.
