You can probably pick one up on ebay for around that. Im no professional but I think it takes great pics and has alot of options. The canon Digital Rebel is getting more inexpensive, so that would be a good one to keep an eye out for. The canon G series is one of my favorites (even if my G2 is refusing to focus correctly right now ). action shots with a P&S camera takes a lot of practice because you have to learn to A)minimize the shutter lag and B)work with what shutter lag you can't get rid of. You have to pre-focus and get to know the lag between the time you trip the shutter and when the camera actually takes the pic or you'll get nothing but junk. the G2-6 also have a hotshoe for an external flash, which helps immensely in the woods.

I found it on sale for about $550....dpreviw has the s1-s2 speed at .1 sec and continuous shoot at 1.8fps .... only real hang up I am having is the 23-inch minimum focal length, but would a wide-angle help this?
