Why is it that I always break something when I ride there?
A brand new ride and after 2 days I have:
a chain guide that looks like a taco (beat it kinda flat with a rock)
a rear wheel thats shaped like a stop sign
a bent rotor
missing screws from pedals
bent 42t ring
loose front hub

I've probably got some random stuff you can have off my DH bike, but it's probably in worse shape anyway.

i broke myself more than my bike... and it wasnt even from riding... drinks are pretty damn affordable up there....
Although my deruiler blew up on No joke, and the bike shop hooked me up with new pulleys and cage for like 7 CDN.. that was pretty cool..
That sucks about your bike though

Because everyday at Whistler your riding about 40,000 vertical feet a day, where anywhere else you may get like 10,000 total. Your putting down a nice 3 months worth of riding in like one week up there!

The secret is to buy whiskey, drink in your room until you are fairly shizzled, and then you only need to buy a couple more drinks at the bar (unless there are women involved!)

After riding all summer with a drivetrain that was completely beat, i finally ponied up a couple weeks ago and replaced all of it. It lasted 5 runs before i exploded the chain and bent the rear deraileur. I have been cursed since i started riding to have a barely functioning drivetrain!

That still doesn't really make it any cheaper than here.

Whistler is not cheap to drink. The only way to drink cheaply is to buy hard liquor and make drinks in your room. Doesnt matter if your from the USA either because everything at Whistler is so jacked up pricewise your still getting drilled. Canadians just take it a little bit harder in the village. The good times cant be beat though, and shit Ill spend the extra $$$ for the fun that place offers...and Im only talking about night life.

Agreed.
Although I'll add: f**k "making drinks," it comes in a bottle with a mouth-sized opening for a reason.
