oh. maybe don't surf on over to cc.com instead.
i think the 20D looks swell. 5 fps sounds just about right to me, and stepping up from 3.2 CMOS megapixels (from my now-deceased D30) to 8.2 buttery smooth CMOS megapixels should be nice. i just hope that noise is controlled without ugly detail reduction a la kodak.

I wonder why the flash sync speed is still slow? 1/500 would be nice.

the nikon d70 and the canon 1D, both of which have 1/500 x-sync, are both ccd sensor cameras. furthermore both also use the sensor itself as a shutter for speeds over a certain threshold. canon's cmos cameras (including the 1DMkII and this new beast) rely on the physical shutter at all shutter speeds so can't get the same high x-sync.

$1500 (body only) has been popping up on various websites. Not sure if Canon made the MSRP public yet....www.dpreview.com lists the street value at $1500 and they are usually pretty accurate

the word from canon itself is that the "estimated street price" will be $1499 without lens. it is definitely a 10D replacement, and the odd name is probably supposed to be reminscent of the D30 --> D60 transition.
Seriously, just buy a Nikon D70. Everyone I know who knows something about cameras tells me it just can't be beat. And I have to agree, i've owned my for little more than 3 months, and it rocks. Only cameras I've seen produce better quality prints cost at least $5000, the D70 (Body + Lens) runs right around 1300, damn good deal.

er, so the canon 1Ds costs over $5000. what other cameras were you talking about? medium format digital backs?
(oh yeah, i'm near the top of the list for the 20D at www.tallyns.com . mention me if you also decide to get on their list)
