Wondering if anyone could help me out with my '87 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Ive been having a low noise coming from the front end of my jeep for a few months now and its only gotten worse. I believe the problem came from falling in a pretty nasty pot hole a few months ago because the problem showed up a week or two afterwards but who the hell knows. Anyway, the noise isnt a high pitched whining noise its more like a low rumbling i guess you could say. It gets louder and is consistant with the speed...it never goes away.
At first we thought it may have been the tires since the tread was low, so I hauled out 240 bucks and bought new treads and got things balanced...didnt solve the problem.
Secondly, we thought it may have been the hub assemblies. they spun rough when the wheels were off so we decided to replace them. I bought new ones and that didnt solve the problem.
Third we tried all news bearings and seals in the front rear. This seemed to quiet the noise a bit low and behold its right back to where it was.
My dad said it made the exact noise last time and they replaced the rear and it didnt do it anymore, but that was about 10 years ago. Anyone have this problem before? At this point any help is appreciated.
Do you have auto or manual front hubs? Could be your front diff...

could be the t-case too, check the fluid levels in the front and rear and t-case. make sure the front rotor backing plates arent rubbing the rotors...
does the noise progress with speed, or does it stay the same?

If the noise progresses with speed, its not alignment. If its only at certain speeds, then it might be an alignment problem.
