The frame is a beast but aged. how long should the aluminum frame hold up or is its life span almost up

Those frames are beastly, I have never seen the more "freeride" norco frames crack or break. They are tanks. Beyond normal wear and tare, one could get many seasons from that bike with little more than bearing replacement.
Dh bikes in the beginning were under built to take on the continued progression. So they cracked and broke on the reg when people pushed limits.
Then things got over built. 50-60 pound dh rigs, monster t's, doublewides, 24"s, 3.0's. That stuff is monster truck compared to today's 30lb. Rigs. Couple that with smoother tracks, and a bike like yours could last a long time.
Your desire for something lighter with modern day geometry will likely be what leads you to a new rig.
