Who Own's Manitou Shocks now?

Postby Evil_Elias » Wed Jul 25, 2007 8:33 am

I having a little bit of trouble here, I order new Eyelet Inserts and sleve's for a 2005 demo 9 from fox shox. Problem is, its not a fox shox but a manitou 4-way. the hardware looks similar, so i tried to put it all together. I was just wondering if this can be done, or if i have to contact manitou to get specific hardware. Also, If anyone has any advice about the best way to set the sleve's into the shock eyelets, any tips would be most appeciated. Thanks

You need to get the Manitou sleeve and bushings. You can try to find the right socket size and use a vise to press the sleeve out. I don't think the fox hardware will work.

inserts may be different, but the bushings/sleeves themselves shiojuld be standard sized.
Blah blah blah. . . . .

I tried to swap a blown POS DHX with a swinger at platty a few months ago. The fox is a hair smaller than the manipoo, won't work chief.

Thanks for the Help, I just order the hardware kits from Manitou. If anyone else needs the info, you can find information (including Contacts)about manitou shocks at www.hbsuspension.com The socket trick worked good.

I had a fox DHX5.0 eyelet and when that blew i got a manitou 6-way and it was about a half mm to large so i just threw it on the lathe and milled that SOB down a little bit and pressed it in. Otherwise just get the right stuff. I was in a hurry.

yeah, unless ya have a lathe, buying fox parts to work on a manitou, is like buying ford parts to fit on a dodge...it just wont work
